Maggie Solomon has always been one of Windfall Island’s favorite daughters. A beautiful, passionate charter pilot who loves this remote Maine island, Maggie has never cared much for outsiders-until her latest passenger arouses the curiosity of the town . . . and something hot and irresistible in Maggie. With his long, lean looks and razor-sharp wit, the man is temptation itself.
Cop-turned-PI Dexter Keegan is on a covert mission to solve the case that will make his career: uncovering the identity of the Stanhope heir, kidnapped nearly a century ago. No one on this fiercely protective island can know what he’s doing, not even the spirited, blue-eyed beauty who infuriates-and excites-Dex. As the desire between them ignites, Maggie becomes the key to the case . . . and the target of an unknown enemy. Now Dex will do anything to protect the woman he’s come to love-even risk his own life.

TEMPTATION BAY is the beginning of a new series about the kidnapping of the Stanhope heiress in 1931 and the investigation to find her descendants. New clues lead PI Dexter Keegan to tiny Windfall Island off the coast of Maine, and charter pilot Maggie Solomon is the one who flies him in. Maggie, nor the rest of the islanders, are happy about an outsider poking into their business, so Dex’s investigation proves difficult.
I really enjoyed the mystery and the setting. The prologue had me intrigued right away, taking readers back to Prohibition on Windfall Island. What really happened to the Stanhope baby, and are her descendants on the island not knowing that they are entitled to millions? Unfortunately, Dex’s findings don’t answer many questions – yet. The mystery will be continued in future books.
I wasn’t happy with the romance between Maggie and Dex, and it was mainly Maggie’s character that I had trouble with. She wasn’t likable at all, and she was so unpleasant to Dex from the beginning. I understand that Maggie had her reasons for not letting a man get close, but I don’t understand why Dex would continue to pursue her. The chemistry between them felt forced. Dex was such a nice guy – I just didn’t see it.
I’ll probably continue on with the series because I’m curious to see how the mystery plays out, plus there will be a new hero and heroine starring in the next book! TEMPTATION BAY is available now in eBook, and comes out in paperback in December.
