Linking up with Kimberly @ Sunday Post and Kathryn @ It’s Monday! What are you reading?
Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️ Will you be celebrating today? My husband is a fantastic cook, and he’s making spicy fennel pasta for dinner and chocolate pots de crème for dessert. Yum!
This past week was filled with bitterly cold weather and a handful of expensive home repairs. When it rains, it pours, as they say! We added new insulation below our kids’ bedroom floors hoping it will keep them warmer, though not a lot helps when it’s -10°F. 🥶
This gave me a laugh a few days ago. You know how on the Goodreads sidebar it gives you recommendations based on what you’ve read? So mine said “Because you enjoyed Mr. Rochester” and the rec was Storey’s Guide to Raising Chickens. 🐓
I love it!!! 😍 Mr. Rochester is a Jane Eyre prequel of sorts, where the author imagines what Rochester’s life was like before Jane. And, I really did enjoy the book. Why the chicken connection, I don’t know! However, if my homeowner’s association would allow it, I’d love to raise chickens. 🥚 Have you noticed any strange Goodreads recs?

What I’m Currently Reading:
DOWN COMES THE NIGHT is a YA gothic fantasy that I was so excited to get from NetGalley! DISAPPEARING EARTH has been on my wish list forever, and it was recently an eBook deal that I had to grab. Have you read it? Thanks for stopping by & have a wonderful week! — 𝓓𝓲𝓪𝓷𝓪
Your chicken recommendation made me laugh really hard! I can’t say if I’ve gotten any strange recommendations from Goodreads, as I tend to not really pay attention to them.
Have a wonderful week ahead, stay safe and healthy.

I don’t tend to pay attention to the recommendations – but that is too funny. Rochester to Chickens. You gotta wonder what algorithm that’s running on lol!
Sorry about the expensive repairs, but I hope they’re at least helping with the temperature. This cold weather is awful :(
Have a great week!

Oh my goodness – no, I’ve never had such a random recommendation from Goodreads – how hilarious! And now… I’m going to stop whining about our chilly Easterly wind now I see the temperatures that you are grappling with. I hope your weather warms up soon! In the meantime, I hope you have the option to hunker down and stay warm and read some good books. Have a good week.

I’d love to have some chickens, too, but I’m not sure how Goodreads came up with that recommendation based off of Mr. Rochester. Lol! Stay warm and have a lovely week!

I felt pretty much the same about Five Total strangers.

That’s definitely one of the weirder Goodreads recommendations I’ve seen! I hardly ever pay attention to them because my own TBR list is so long, but I think I’ll start noticing them from now on.
Hope you had a good Valentine’s Day! Mr. Bookwyrm and I got takeout for the first time since the pandemic started. And he brought me flowers — also a first since the beginning of the quarantimes, since we don’t go into stores much. But the little local candy shop was empty on the day before Valentine’s Day due to the forecast ice storm (which didn’t really materialize), so he risked popping in.

I’ve never paid attention to Goodreads recommendations since my TBR stack is already so tall. I do wonder about the connection to chickens, though. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Sounds like an amazing Valentine’s dinner, but sorry to hear about the repairs. The Push is on my wish list and Disappearing Earth has been there for a while, too. Can’t believe I missed the daily deal! Sometimes the goodreads recommendations crack me up.

A person in our neighborhood has chickens. They have an enclosure for them but then I see them out playing with them loose in the yard a lot lol

I sometimes do wonder about the strange Goodreads recommendations and other times they’re so spot on or I can at least see where the recommendation came from. No clue how they got that chicken recommendation based on your read, but it sure is funny!
