Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Had VERY Strong Emotions About

This week I’m linking up with Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday. Check out her blog for a new prompt every week. Today’s topic:

Books I Had VERY Strong Emotions About

Any emotion? We could be here a while. Since I’ve got Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness (and all of her sad summery songs) on my mind, I’m narrowing it down to six books that I loved, but vividly remember crying over, for one reason or another. Grab your tissues:

WILDFLOWER HILL by Kimberley Freeman
THIS TENDER LAND by William Kent Krueger

WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING by Delia Owens
THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO by Taylor Jenkins Reid

MOON OF THE TURNING LEAVES by Waubgeshig Rice
THE SOUND OF GLASS by Karen White

The endings of Crawdads and This Tender Land weren’t sad exactly, but so touching and bittersweet that I sobbed. What was the last book that made you cry? I’ll leave you with a little sadcore from Lana. Thanks for stopping by! β€” 𝓓𝓲π“ͺ𝓷π“ͺ

  1. My favorite books are the ones that make me cry. I haven’t read any of these, but I’d love to make time for a couple, especially This Tender Land.

  2. I love that song, a perfect vibe for gothic books in the summer haha I have not read any of these books but I am quite curious about Moon of the Turning Leaves

  3. The only one of these that I’ve read is the Crawdads book. Several years ago. I keep meaning to read This Tender Land, but I’d kind of have to be in the mood for it. I’m such a moody reader – ha! Enjoy!

  4. Where the Crawdads Sing really bothered me a whole lot. I don’t think I cried, but I was very disturbed by it. I have Wildflower Hill. My daughter gave it to me, but I haven’t read it yet.

  5. I am such an emotional reader–doesn’t matter the book. I cry when I’m happy and when I’m sad. Probably when I’m angry too. LOL This is a great list. Thank you for sharing!
