This week I’m linking up with Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday. Check out her blog for a new prompt every week. Today’s topic:
Books I Had VERY Strong Emotions About
Any emotion? We could be here a while. Since I’ve got Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness (and all of her sad summery songs) on my mind, I’m narrowing it down to six books that I loved, but vividly remember crying over, for one reason or another. Grab your tissues:
WILDFLOWER HILL by Kimberley Freeman
THIS TENDER LAND by William Kent Krueger
WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING by Delia Owens
THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO by Taylor Jenkins Reid
MOON OF THE TURNING LEAVES by Waubgeshig Rice
THE SOUND OF GLASS by Karen White
The endings of Crawdads and This Tender Land weren’t sad exactly, but so touching and bittersweet that I sobbed. What was the last book that made you cry? I’ll leave you with a little sadcore from Lana. Thanks for stopping by! β ππ²πͺπ·πͺ
How to Be Brave by Louise Beech was one that left me slightly tearful.

My favorite books are the ones that make me cry. I haven’t read any of these, but I’d love to make time for a couple, especially This Tender Land.

I love that song, a perfect vibe for gothic books in the summer haha I have not read any of these books but I am quite curious about Moon of the Turning Leaves

Moon of the Turning Leaves was so good! I usually don’t read post-apocalyptic books, but I fell in love with this series.

The only one of these that I’ve read is the Crawdads book. Several years ago. I keep meaning to read This Tender Land, but I’d kind of have to be in the mood for it. I’m such a moody reader – ha! Enjoy!

I’m a moody reader too. I have a few other William Kent Krueger books on my TBR, but haven’t been in the mood to break them open yet.

The last book that made me cry? It was probably The Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot. I was so grateful to be home alone that day.

Great list! A few of these are on my TBR. The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah gutted me when I read it last year.

Where the Crawdads Sing really bothered me a whole lot. I don’t think I cried, but I was very disturbed by it. I have Wildflower Hill. My daughter gave it to me, but I haven’t read it yet.

I STILL haven’t read the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I’ll be preparing my tissues for when I do!

I am such an emotional reader–doesn’t matter the book. I cry when I’m happy and when I’m sad. Probably when I’m angry too. LOL This is a great list. Thank you for sharing!

Nice Lana song and as always she has quite a voice! I liked the Crawdads novel and I hope to read Rice’s first book soon. Good to hear that you liked his sequel book.
