Blog Update: Summer just started, but it’s already flying by…

This week I’m linking up with Sunday Post, Sunday Salon, and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Thank you for hosting, Kimberly, Deb, and Kathryn!

I’ve been out of school for a month!? It’s gone by way too quickly. I’ve been so distracted with world events and TikTok lately that I haven’t been reading as much as I should be. Someone take my phone away, lol.

It’s been an expensive summer so far! We had to replace our dishwasher and washing machine, and we went ahead and threw in the matching dryer because the old one had seen better days. I love the new set. They both play the cutest tune when the cycle is done. I love the clear top so I can watch the clothes swish, swish, swish. Also, I appreciate that there’s no bulky agitator to get in the way.

My daughter registered for her first semester of college with tuition due in August. Luckily she’ll be living at home the first year so we’ll save on room & board.

My audiobook plan this summer is to re-listen/listen to the whole You series by Caroline Kepnes. I read the first two several years ago, and I’m almost finished rereading both. Then in July I’ll tackle books 3 & 4, which are new to me. Santino Fontana is the best narrator!! One reason I put off watching the Netflix series was because I couldn’t picture any other actor besides him as Joe. However, it turns out that Penn Badgley is amazing as TV Joe.

Speaking of TV series, I’ll leave you with a clip from one of my new favorites, Poker Face. It’s a very clever and entertaining amateur detective show starring Natasha Lyonne and a cast of unique supporting characters. Though set in current day, it definitely has a 1970s vibe to it.

Thanks for stopping by & have a wonderful week! — 𝓓𝓲𝓪𝓷𝓪

  1. I like your new washer and dryer. I recently bought the black Samsung front loading set but put them side by side because I’m so short. I hope you love yours as much as I love mine!

  2. The washing machine with the clear lid looks spiffy!

I’ve also been unusually distracted by the world. Here’s to better focus next week!

  3. Top loading washers seem to be coming back. The front loaders seem to have more problems than the hype about them promised. The see-through top looks great.

  4. My son stayed home for his entire four years; well five because he changed his major TWICE. 🙄 It saved us a lot of money. We are lucky to have a top ranked state university here. 🙂

I love watching clothes dry. That’s something I miss from going to the laundromat. 😅 I would love a clear top washer. 😯

I never thought before about summer being perfect for completing series. I’ll have to remember that for next year. 🙂

Have a wonderful new week. ☀

  5. I almost miss when we didn’t have the phones lol! And our washer went too, now we have to get a new model. We’re thinking of getting a dryer at the same time.

  6. I stayed at home for my entire college education, and I was able to pay for all my classes and my books by working part-time. Of course that was some time ago!

I keep wondering how much longer our washer/dryer will hold out. So far, we have had them for more than fifteen years.

Summer, with its long days, is a time to really get into a long book or a series, I think.

  7. We had to buy a new washing machine in February. I kept my old dryer though. My daughter finished her Bachelor’s degree last month. She is now off to get her Masters/Ph.D. We’ve been lucky and she’s had a lot of scholarships to pay for everything. I know that I would read more if I wasn’t always distracted by my phone! Have a great week!

  8. Urg! It’s never fun when the appliances that make our lives so much easier break at the same time. But glad you’re satisfied with the new ones:)). Himself likes Poker Face and has persuaded me to watch it with him. I hope the coming week is a good one.

  9. My elder son returned to campus after his semester break, just as my youngest daughter just came home for hers :)
Why is it that appliances break in threes?? I have a similar washing machine, it plays a song too!

Wishing you a happy reading week

  10. We just got a new washer and dryer last year… and I love the little tune at the end, too! A new stove is next on my list. College room and board is SO expensive. Your daughter is lucky she can live at home for the first year. I wish ours could have done that. Hope you have a great week!

  11. I want a washer with a clear top! I like that they play a tune when the cycle is done. That’s so exciting about your daughter and definitely good saving on room and board. When my daughter moved out of the dorms and into her own apartment it was like a bit of a pay raise the dorms were so exciting! My reading has been a bit weird this month and really I can’t believe June is almost done. It’s been a weird few weeks. Have a great week!

  12. You have had an expensive week! Appliances are pricey! We bought new ones when we moved a year ago and got the one without an agitator too. Makes fitting a comforter in easier. I like it. Good thing you get to save on room and board. College is expensive too!

I loved Santino Fontana’s performance too! I didn’t listen past the first book but did watch some of the series and I agree, Penn Badgely is a fantastic Joe! Summer is flying by. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

  13. I prefer a top loading washer than the front loading one because you can just take out your laundry in case the machine breaks down, although I’ve to admit the front loading washer looks cool. ;)
And tell me about those phones, lol. I’m always playing games if I’m not reading.
